
Nigel Smith Executive Vice President
In the fall of 2007, Nigel Smith led the opening of Schwartz Communications’ London office. As executive vice president and managing director, Smith is responsible for overall account management and operations of the London office. Prior to his current assignment in London, Smith ran the West Coast healthcare practice from the agency’s San Francisco office.
Smith has been with Schwartz since 1993. During his tenure, he has worked with various medical device, diagnostic and biotechnology clients, including Heart Technology, Cyberonics, Heartstream, I-Flow, Somnus Medical, AusAm Biotech, Vitex and Rigel. He has also worked with multiple healthcare IT companies, including Epocrates, Health Payment Review, Phase Forward, Promedix and DxCG.
As executive vice president, Smith’s responsibilities include the management and strategic direction of his accounts as well as high-level media relations work with top-tier business and consumer press. He has helped multiple clients with the clinical trial recruitment process and led the successful PR launch of new products post-regulatory clearance.
Over the past 14 years, Smith’s accounts have won both national and regional public relations awards. His clients have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, NBC “Nightly News,” ABC “World News Tonight,” National Public Radio and numerous other high-impact media outlets. Under his leadership, his teams have won and been finalists for national PR awards, including Bulldogs and Silver Quills as well as prestigious local awards in New England and San Francisco for PR excellence.
Prior to joining Schwartz, Smith was a marketing executive at LittlePoint Corporation, a pharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, Mass., which was acquired by SC Johnson. Prior to that, he worked in the newsroom and promotions departments at WFXT-TV in Boston. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a B.A. in communication. Smith also serves on the advisory board of the National Youth Sports Safety Foundation.
