Shanti Skiffington
Vice President

Shanti Skiffington joined Schwartz Communications in 1996. Since that time, she has represented two of the agency’s largest and most successful clients, CYTYC Corporation (acquired by Hologic, Inc.) and Heartstream, (acquired by Philips Medical Systems). Both companies began their engagements with Schwartz as new market entrants and steadily rose to become market leaders during the relationship. Both companies also enjoyed a high level of recognition for having secured highly favorable acquisition terms.

As part of the healthcare practice at Schwartz, Skiffington has deep expertise across a wide range of industries, including medical devices, healthcare IT, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and the life sciences. Her healthcare teams have won several national awards for their public relations success. The New England Publicity Club granted top honors for her teams’ work, including best consumer campaign and best marketing communications campaign designations. Industry organizations, including The Bulldog Reporter, Creativity in Public Relations Association, Medical Marketing Association, Healthcare PR and Marketing newsletter and the International Association for Business Communicators (IABC) have awarded similar honors for her teams’ results-focused public relations campaigns.

Skiffington has also represented a wide range of high-technology clients developing software solutions for financial services, manufacturing, small- and medium-sized businesses and government. Her expertise ranges from workflow and business process management to banking compliance and employee benefits software.

Skiffington has helped guide her clients through a number of sentinel events, including FDA panel meetings, FDA clearances and panel meetings, crisis communications, product recalls, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and adverse events resulting from a product defect. Her most notable media achievements include a page one, color, full-page, stand-alone feature in USA Today, a front-page Wall Street Journal “Marketplace” feature and two Associated Press “Health Column” features.

Formerly a grant writer for an educational television station, Skiffington was part of a two-person development team responsible for generating approximately $8 million a year, half the station’s annual budget. Prior to Schwartz, Skiffington also conducted research in the Department of Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School for the book The History of Boston City Hospital.

Skiffington graduated with honors from Simmons College.
