Business Challenge

AmberWave turned to Schwartz for help in transitioning its positioning from the inventors of a promising technology to the top partner for wafer and device manufacturers seeking the fastest, easiest path to the cost and performance enhancements of strained silicon. The company had more than a decade of research behind its technology but relatively little brand recognition.

Schwartz PR Strategy

Working with AmberWave’s executives, Schwartz developed and executed an aggressive media and analyst relations campaign to establish AmberWave as the thought, technology and market leader for strained silicon in the minds of reporters, analysts, potential customers and potential partners.The PR campaign’s central themes were that strained silicon was ready for prime time and that AmberWave was the logical partner for those looking to achieve performance improvements. Another key theme was that device manufacturers do not need to invest in new fabrication or design infrastructure to realize the benefits of strained silicon. The final goal was to raise AmberWave’s visibility with the business media and potential investor’s through features in key business publications.

Results

  • Schwartz quickly established AmberWave as the strained silicon leader. Publications such as Semiconductor International, SiliconStrategies and Electronic Engineering Times regularly featured the company.
  • Schwartz leveraged the commitment of key chip makers to AmberWave’s proprietary strained silicon technology to position the technology as a de facto part of the industry’s technology roadmap and AmberWave as the partner of choice.
  • The effort to raise the company’s awareness among businesses and investors exceeded all expectations. In fact, two features on this private company ran over a span of less than two weeks in Investor’s Business Daily.
